New Hampshire State Police captured a man Monday who was wanted in connection with a trooper-involved shooting in Vermont after he sought treatment at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
Brenden Sackal, 30, of Rockville, Rhode Island, was allegedly involved in a gunfire exchange with members of the Vermont State Police in Burke, Vermont, on July 14, during which he was wounded. He was arrested on a fugitive-from-justice warrant Monday and taken to Grafton County jail on Tuesday after getting medical clearance at Dartmouth Hitchcock, police said.
Sackal is facing several charges in Vermont, including multiple counts of attempted aggravated murder, attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, gross negligent operation and attempting to elude law enforcement.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Haverhill District Court.
Sackal was also wanted for firearms charges in Rhode Island.
